Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is an additional step in the login process: after entering a password, the system requests a confirmation via an app or SMS code. This protects accounts even if a password is compromised.
LSMU is implementing MFA in accordance with the Access Management Policy approved by Rector's Order No. 2026-V-0120 on 21 April 2026.

Systems covered
First wave: Microsoft 365 (Teams, Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint), Moodle, LSMUSIS. Additional systems will be added in subsequent phases.
Authentication methods
Recommended: Microsoft Authenticator app (Google Play / App Store).
Backup: SMS code to a registered phone number.
Alternative for iPhone users: Apple Passkey (set up via QR code scan).
Mandatory activation dates
8 June 2026 – general departments
25 June 2026 – all staff, faculty, and students
